A dioxin has been identified as the main cancer-causing agent in cigarettes. That's how we know that dioxins are a threat to your health. That's why your doctor and the Cancer Society advises you not to smoke. We now know that you can get cancer from living with a smoker through inhaling second hand smoke. An incinerator is like a gigantic chain smoker that the surrounding community is forced to live with. Once it is built and exhaling you have no control over what you have to breathe in. You can't nag it to quit smoking. You can't ask it to smoke outside so that it won't affect the children's health. If you live near an incinerator you become an involuntary second hand smoker.
