Take the Time to Write the
   Environment Minister

   Mr. Criss Stockwell
   Minister of Environment
   12th Floor
   135 St. Clair Avenue West
   Toronto, Ontario M4V lP5

   fax: (416) 314-6748

The following points should be made:

   1) Bennett Environmental is looking to site an
incinerator for burning toxic waste from the U.S.
and Mexico. Their own company statements estimate that
90% of the waste will come from outside the country .

   2) Bennett Environmental has not told residents of
this region that they are looking to target the market in
dioxin-contaminated materials. Dioxin is the most toxic element known
to man and nowhere has the Ministry of Environment addressed the
   issue of dioxin-importation and destruction.

   3) No level of dioxin is safe for import. A mere 40-80
milligrams of dioxin contamination caused $3 billion in losses to the
Belgian agriculture industry .Our region is dependent on a $100 million
a year agricultural industry. Is Witmer's office
willing to turn our agricultural region into the toxic Walkerton?

   4) The citizens of this region are not willing to
assume the risk for an international PCB/dioxin incinerator. It is up
to the Ministry of Environment to protect the citizens of this region.

   5) If the Minister does not act to protect the region,
citizens will be forced to protect themselves - just as they did when
they erected road and rail blockades to stop the Adams Mine dump from proceeding.

   6) Ask the Minister to respond to your letter stating
what she intends to do to protect your interests.
